Containers accidents, Ships and cargo

Oceanserve S.A. de C.V. , represents insurance companies and shipping lines in the inspection of ships, containers, and their cargoes, that had been involved in accidents or robberies, during transportation by sea, rail, or truck, or during storage in warehouses, at the port warehouses, or bonded warehouses. During the inspection, we investigated; origin and responsibility for the accident/robberie and the damage value.

It is important to inform you that our team inspects all kinds of merchandise industries, such as power generation equipment, cement, basic chemicals, petrochemicals, metallurgical, automotive parts, agribusiness, food and textile pharmaceutical, etc.

VESSELS

Vessel Accident types: Examples inspection of vessel´s accidents are: During navigation/bad weather causing the ship; damage to the ship’s structure, collapse of merchandise in the ship’s hold, water filtration, etc. accidents to crew members, vessel crane failure causing; damage to containers or goods ,and port facilities, delays in manoeuvres, etc. Damages to the port fenders or buoyes causing terminal; damage or to the ship’s structure, damage to third parties, etc. The above are examples as accidents in the maritime field which can be extensive and have special features.

CONTAINERS

Accident types of the containers: Rollovers on their land or rail transportation, origin inspection of the damage caused due to the accident and the value of the extent of the damage caused to the container and cargo. Container Terminal Crane Operators , source of the inspection and the damage caused during the accident at the terminal and the value and the extent of the damage caused to the containers and their cargoes. The above are examples of accidents to containers which can be extensive and have special features.

CARGO

Types of Commodity Inspected Ranged from Water filtration into the transportation unit of the damage cargo, investigate the origin of the damage caused, by  the wetness, moisture and oxidation, in the commodity and the value and the extent of the damage. A Silver nitrate test is applied to determine if the water filtration was salt-water or fresh-water. Fire during loading or storage of cargo. Investigate the origin of the damage that affected the cargo as pollution, burning and disintegration of the commodity product and the value and the extent of the damage. Accidents during transportation of the cargo. We investigate the origin of the damage that affected the cargo as; broken, crushed, dented, destroyed, and the value and the extent of the damage.

Heavy lift cargo and equipment inspection and accident prevention

Oceanserve S.A. de C.V. inspects all kinds of heavy lift cargo and the equipment for different types of industries, power generation, construction, metallurgical, automotive, etc. These heavy lift cargoes are monitored by our team to discharge or load vessels, by train, truck or lowboy. During the inspection our surveyors monitord what heavy lift cargo is to be loaded or discharged properly during these operations, without causing any damages to the heavy lift equipment or to the vessel and to follow the relevant standards or levels and method statments as stated by  our client, with reference to the lashing and securing, positions, angles, and stability, etc. Also our surveyors will be inspecting the heavy lift equipment loading / discharging (cranes, slings, chains, steel cables, shackles, lowboy, platform, etc.) to be used in the transportation of each of the heavy lift units.

During the inspection our surveyors will check  for the serial numbers of each of the heavy lift units that are to be inspected; turbines, generators, modules, transformers, boilers, dying machinery, engines, propellers, tanks, etc. All these heavy lift cargoes are carefully supervised by our team to prevent no damage to their structures on board the vessel during loading and/or discharge and also while being transported to and from the original plant and their final sites.

Also, part of our survey would include the inspection of some of the pieces on the heavy lift equipment units. These inspections on the heavy lift equipment includes; wiring, screws, tubes, control panels, screens, etc. Usually these pieces come in wooden crates and are also inspected to make sure that all components had left their place of origin and reached their final destination, complete and in good condition.

Robberies containers or cargo – Robberies Containers / Trailers

Oceanserve S.A. de C.V. With reference to the theft of goods in containers / trailers; first check the physical condition and the security seals container / trailer. Then we proceed to the opening of the container / trailer and proceeds to the total discharge, accounting for all cargo and determining much is stolen parts and value based on the cargo documentation. After we conducted an investigation to determine where the loss, who may be the alleged perpetrator, and whereabouts of the container and platform (the latter if it was a total rip) happened.

Attempted Robbery Containers / Trailers

Referring to attempts to container theft; first verify the security seals the container. Found any damage to the seals or the physical condition of the container proceeds to the container opening and the total discharge, in order to verify the cargo documentation that the goods are complete and it was just a robbery attempt.

Robberies goods

With reference to the theft of goods transported by land sea and rail, or properly stored in warehouses, bonded warehouses or puertearías enclosures; first we verify the shipment documentation and verify a few pieces and in turn value equals theft. After we conducted an investigation to determine where the theft occurred, who may be the alleged perpetrator, and whereabouts of the goods.
